Jo Dunnick Watercolors

Yupo

Yupo  is essentially a "plastic" paper! The watercolor paint sits on top of the yupo. As a result the colors are vibrant and, when encouraged run together, the paints create incredibly fresh images. Overflow and Evening Tide are magical in a way... there is so much going on in there that you just can't paint. Sometimes I will take a "start" (beginning of a painting), keep the loose background and then define some areas as I did in Council and Council Meeting. It is great for creating water as in Turbulence and Hippo. Yupo gives you something a watercolorist seldom gets: a second chance! You could take the "paper" to the sink, wash off the paint and try again!! Yupo: expect the unexpected!
